Client 1: Jiro Ono - Sushi - Top - "Elegance"
Client 2: Shinya Kimura - Motorcycle - Bottom - "Raw"
Original Sectional Drawings
My First Drawing:
I was originally working with the word "Professionalism" to describe the work of Jiro Ono. But then I found the word's meaning is too vague, therefore I change it to "Elegance", which at the same time contrasts with the word "Raw" (describing Shinya Kimura).
Top: Here I presents "Elegance" in a way that the Jiro studio and the Ground space are hidden under the landscape, beautifully blends with the sublime landscape. And the entrance is designed to enter from above ground to the space. Although the drawing did not show my idea very well, I hope I can explain it here:
The upper floor (the actual Jiro Ono's Studio) is delicately hanged in the upper space. This basically creates a sharing relationship with the Ground floor, while 2 floors are sharing the same ceiling, and therefore create a much more spacious feeling for both levels.
Bottom: The body of the Bottom structure is going to be "stringed" by many "raw" iron columns, its kind of in way preventing the surround ground pushing into the wall of the Studio. Shinya's space mainly featured with a customise motor bike testing ring, where right above it, a wide transparent ceiling "connects" with the Ground floor. The glazed floor allow visitors to have view of the ring without physically going downstair and smelling like petrol.
2ND and 3RD Drafts are purpose to plan my design on 2D after my first draft on SketchUp.
These drawing almost literately planed out both of my final interior and exterior designs.
Hope you guys can spot the similarity:)!
- FINAL DESIGN -
EXTERIOR
Bird Eye's View from South side (Main entrance)
From South
I decided to finalise my design by combining everything (top and bottom) in the same body of architecture. The context of the structure will be located at a desert, inspired by the video of Shinya Kimura. I decided to make an elegantly curved and layered shape to reflect the quality of Jiro's sushi. Whereas the surrounding desert context and the use of rusty copper and reinforced concrete reflects Shinya's raw art style.

(Rendered with V-Ray)
The Glazing on the Floor allow see through to the motorcycle in testing ring as I have mentioned earlier in sketches. (A clearer Picture shown in previous post)
The Hanging Stair case hierarchies a sight of delicacy as I mentioned in my previous post.(A clearer Picture shown in previous post)
Sushi presentation table (far centre)
MotorCycle Ramp & Stairs, and Shinya Kimura on motorbike (far left glazed area)
Jiro Ono's space
(V-Ray version in the morning)
Ceiling shows a great dynamic to the rest of the space, where the whole floor piece is not attach with any walls and is held by 4 columns.
Creating an effect of a "floating floor plate effect"
- Underground Level -
Shinya Kimura's Studio
An example of Shinya testing his bike in MotorCycle Testing ring. (Shown in the animation)
Skewed Spiral stair case is designed for pedestrian to view the action from above. the skewing creates a floating effect for viewer, as if they are also in the ring. (as mentioned in previous post)
Working Area, Motorcycle ramp, Stairs and Storage are all combined under the one concrete structure
