EXP3 FINAL EXPORT

Final Review:

Due to a major technical issue that I have to deal with on the due date, my environment was lost in a "saving error" and for unfortunately, I wasn't able to import any my Sketchup models besides what I have imported before the error.

Aside that, I manage to recreate an environment and present as much as I can, where only the elevators and more than half of the bridge are not able to be imported.

The Bridge:
Scenes are not available in cry engine, therefore I have rendered scenes form sketchUp via plugin, V-ray to simulate the situation.

EXP3 Final Bridge

Capturing part of my development

After hours of developments, a final version of the bridge is created:

EXP3 Elevator

Drafts on 2 different elevators, Left - Dean's elevator, Right - school elevator

Dean's elevator:

In order to cohere and relates with the meeting place, I decided to design a lift with similar curves and also intimate. And egg represents a sense of security and responsibility, in the case of Dean being the head of the school, it is his job to be responsible and protective of the school.

The egg's smooth dimension also symbolises the the vision, which ultimately fits the character of the Dean

School elevator:

The main idea behind the school lift is more like a transporter, which provides smooth and elegant ride from one point to another, therefor I decided to work on the form or stream, in order to also echo with the design of the bridge.

Elevators in action:
I wish to make a video of the whole action of the lift getting off from bridge to meeting area, but unfortunately due to major technical problems, my bridge and elevators are not able to be imported into cry engine.
In place of a video I have produced some V-ray rendered images to show the series

Starting from the lower floor on the top of the bridge, the students and the Dean enters the lifts.

After that both lower down to safe height (avoiding collision with the ship on the harbour) and start traveling horizontally towards the Southern Park (where the meeting place is).

Two elevators traveling on over the harbour.

Arriving at the "circle"

The lifts orientations are cohering the rest of the follies, they land and sink down to the level where their platforms are just slightly high than the ground, then doors will open for the user to exit the elevator and head towards the meeting/dinning hall.

EXP3 Follies & PARK

In order to promote the notion of green and sustainability into my innovation, I decided to include the design of parks that connects the bridge on both ends

Firstly, according to the actual site I drew an organised outline of the park and fitting it with the bridge to trial orientations

I was inspirate by one of the themes of our 36 texture: scaler, where one of my patterns was consisting with multiple scaled circles, and that I drive this idea across to create the meeting area or lunch area on one of the big circles.

Follies Design:

From all the practises on perspective drawings, i have gained inspiration to create organic forms where the shape of and "F" is form from different perspective view points. In this case the most obvious will be on level elevation view, where the larger overhangs sculpture form Fs by virtually connecting with the smaller sculptures. (Display on the top)

The PARKS:

The northern part is located at a plaza like location according to the actual Hong Kong map, therefore to reinforce the location, the park has a bigger plaza ground compared to the southern one. This northern park also consist with 2 heights, where closer to the actual sea view, the ground is lower, so people are closer to the nature.

Park elements are as follow:
Grey - concrete
yellow - yellow tiles or yellow painted concrete
Green - grass
Blue - blue flowers
Purple - purple flowers
Red - red flowers

The Southern side of the park is where the meeting place is also located, the nearby location on the Hong Kong map is the CBD area, where people are vibrant and active. Therefore the orientation of the park elements tend to guide users from the bridge to the extension of the these ideas, where a social performance ground (dark yellow or top left corner) is included into the design, which coheres with the meeting area on the lower right.

Park elements are as follow:
additional of
Brown - timer ground (stage)

Meeting Area:

The meeting or lunch area is located on the biggest circle on one of the parks, it is spherically decorated by the follies, which enhances the organic and the fluidic flow of the whole plan.

A view from the meeting place perspective, we can clearly notice the gradual change of topography over the parks and the bridge. And as mentioned the follies are there to strengthen the idea and the dorm like shaped meeting place also in a way symbolises the duality of engineered results collaborating with architectural concept, due to the fact the lunch shelter consist a mathematic concept.

EXP3 structure and roofing

    Structure of the architecture:

Draft and development of the structure frame

Although the body of the bridges is the main component to lift the architecture up, some minor support over the lower hanging part of the school are needed.

To do so I came up with a net like design to in a way carries the bottom hanging parts from the bridge structure. On the bottom shows my drawings and later extracted into a 3D fitting form

Using the plugin (curviloft), I manage to successfully fit the "net" over the building

A view of the dynamics produced from the "nets"

Along with the minor structure, the roofing and decorative design of the bridge is developed:

As I am trailing with how to make the net structure, I also found a way to decorate the roof of the building. Similarly, a plan is drawn and follow up by a extraction

As I progress, I have generated a design that seems to imitate a flow of wind or fluid through the structure, funnelling at the narrow body area and expands at the other end.

The roofing element was a no-brainer, as my mash up concept consist with the idea of "home" blending with the landscape, a "green" textured layer is added over the roof to make it even more part of the landscape.

Despite located at the urban area of Hong Kong, where green is not obvious, I came up with an idea of parks connecting with the bridge on 2 ends to support my architectural theory and to enhance the landscape of my bridge's form.
